Sustainability & Transformation

  • Focus on connections of the energy transition with people and social issues
  • Environment, resources and pollutants
  • Aspects of acceptance and justice

In the "Sustainability & Transformation" research cluster, the focus is on connecting the energy transition with people on the pathway to a sustainable society. The aim is to identify socio-economic challenges and consequences of the transformation process and to take them into account appropriately when designing the energy transition process.

Taking into account various interactions between the environment, resources and the economy, social conflicts of interest are to be better identified and solutions that are socially and economically as widely accepted as possible and accelerate the energy transition, so to speak, are to be developed that allow a joint implementation of the energy transition involving all stakeholders.

Another focus of the cluster's social energy transition research is climate justice and acceptance aspects in the context of a sustainable energy transition.
